College of Arts, Sciences, and Education

Welcome Message from the Dean

Welcome to the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education. As Dean, I’m proud to lead a college that is a dynamic center for learning and discovery. Our mission is clear and our momentum is strong.

Our Vision: To Lead and Innovate

We are building a powerful community of students, faculty, staff, and alumni focused on making a real-world impact. Our work is defined by three core activities:

  • Active Learning & Scientific Discovery: We move beyond the textbook with hands-on research and engaging instruction.
  • Community-Based Engagement: We connect our academic work to the needs of our local communities.
  • Passionate Advocacy: We empower our students to become thoughtful and effective agents of social change.

Through this focus on teaching, and service, we are on track to become one of the top universities in PNG by 2030.

Dr Kapil Dave [PhD]
Professor, Education and Sports Science

Making a Tangible Difference: Addressing the Teacher Shortage

Our commitment isn’t just a statement; it’s an action plan. To address the critical teacher shortage, our College of Education is actively supporting new and under-prepared teachers in our partner schools.

  • We provide practical, classroom-based professional development.
  • In the last few years alone, we have provided professional development to over 200 teachers.

This work strengthens local schools and gives our own students invaluable experience, ensuring they are prepared to lead in their own classrooms.

Our Students: The Heart of Our College

We honor and celebrate our diverse student body. Though you come from varied backgrounds, you are united by a drive for academic excellence and a desire to create positive change.

Your resilience is inspiring. When the shift to online learning required leaving campus, friends, and student groups behind, you showed incredible resourcefulness and adapted successfully.

Our success is a collective effort, and we are thrilled to see the future taking shape right here. Together, we will continue to explore new frontiers and make a lasting mark.

Bachelor of Science in Chemistry [BSc.]

Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at the Innovative University of Enga is a four-year degree programme (PNG NQF Level 7) that equips students with theoretical knowledge and practical laboratory skills in analytical, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry. The programme integrates modern chemical research methods with applications relevant to Papua New Guinea’s industries, such as mining, agriculture, manufacturing, and environmental management. Graduates are prepared for careers in scientific research, education, industry, and government, as well as for further postgraduate study.

  • Chemistry is the “central science,” linking physics, biology, environmental science, and engineering.
  • High demand for qualified chemists in PNG’s resource, environmental, and education sectors.
  • Strong laboratory and analytical skills that are directly applicable to PNG’s industrial and environmental challenges.
  • Pathway to postgraduate study and international research collaboration.
  • Apply advanced chemical principles to solve theoretical and applied problems.
  • Design, conduct, and interpret chemical experiments using modern analytical techniques.
  • Use scientific literature, databases, and computational tools effectively.
  • Evaluate environmental, industrial, and societal issues from a chemical perspective.
  • Communicate chemical knowledge clearly in oral and written form.
  • Work ethically and safely in laboratory and field environments.
