Health Services
IUE is deeply committed to the well-being of its students and staff through strong partnerships with professional medical institutions:
- Aipus Hospital – Offers modern general and specialized healthcare services.
- Wabag General Hospital – The province’s main hospital offering diagnostics, treatment, and inpatient care.
- Sopas Hospital – Known for excellent medical services and student clinical training.
These facilities ensure students have access to safe, reliable, and quality healthcare throughout their academic journey.
Mental Health & Welfare
The Student Welfare Department provides:
- Counseling services
- Personal guidance
- Crisis support and referrals
- Wellness awareness programs
Students are encouraged to speak openly about challenges and make use of confidential support services.
Recreational Sport Program
Recreational sport plays a vital role in campus life, promoting health, teamwork, and school spirit. Open to all students regardless of ability.
Programs Include:
- Intramural Leagues: Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Touch Rugby
- Group Fitness: Zumba sessions with Madam Nadia, aerobics
- Outdoor Adventures: Hikes, weekend sports challenges
- Casual Play: Courts and fields open for student use
- Tournaments & Competitions:
- Vice Chancellor’s Cup – Inter-university football competition held in odd years (e.g. 2025, 2027); IUE recently topped Pool B!
- NUS Games – Held in even years (e.g. 2026), where universities across PNG compete in all major sports.

- Equipment hire station (indevelopment)
- Student Recreation Centre (in development)
Participation:
- Check schedules on the Student Portal or campus notice boards.
- Register at the Sport & Recreation Office or online.
- Join teams or participate casually-most activities are free or low-cost!
Events
The Student Services Division organizes a wide variety of events to build a vibrant and inclusive campus culture:
Annual & Ongoing Events
- Orientation Week – Kick-start your journey at IUE with social events, tours, and information sessions.
- Cultural Festivals – Celebrate Enga’s and PNG’s rich heritage through traditional dances, art, and food.
- Career & Academic Fairs – Network with employers and explore future pathways.
- Inter-University Sports Events – Compete in the Vice Chancellor’s Cup and NUS Games.
- Campus Socials – Movie nights, fun runs, talent shows, and student-led celebrations.
- Wellness Days – Free health checks, mental health workshops, and relaxation activities.
