
Supervisor for Residence Life and Housing
ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Director of Student Life, Engagement, and Leadership
Supervises: Hall Administrators
Coordinates with: Division of Student Services Team, Facilities
PURPOSE
The Coordinator for Residence Life and Housing is the point person for all residence life and housing-related issues. They will supervise and coordinate with Hall Supervisors to ensure that the residence halls are in good condition and will report all issues, whether disciplinary or repair-related, to the Director of Student Life.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Serves on university committees focused on student life, including student conduct-related issues.
• In cooperation with the Office of Student Life and Hall Administrators, develops programs for residents.
• Keeps regular office hours in addition to being available outside of normal hours when necessary.
• Serves as support for residents dealing with conflicts.
• Oversees maintenance requests for residence halls and coordinates with the Maintenance Department.
• Plays a key role in the check-in/check-out and assignment process in coordination with the Office of Student Life.
• Responsible for the students’ observance of IUE policies and procedures.
• Supervises and supports Hall Administrators in carrying out their duties.
• Serves as front-line contact for disciplinary issues within the residence halls.
• Performs other functions that may be assigned or delegated by the Director of Student Life.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Qualifications – Minimum Diploma preferable BA/BS in a medical or social field.
• Knowledge – of PNG culture, psychology, religious and spiritual needs.
• Skills – Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, email); people skills; ability to coordinate group activities of academic, social or religious nature; ability to solve grievances and conflicts, and to maintain harmony among people from different cultures and backgrounds; disciplined and able to discipline others; ability to work as part of a team; ability to be a moral guide.
• Work Experience – Minimum of 5 years working with and managing young people; experience in supervision and dealing with conflicts.
• Preferred Experience – Experience with/knowledge of group residential living situations
