IUE to enrol students in ICT and business courses

THE Innovative University of Enga will have its third faculty, Information Communication Technology and Business to operate next year, according to provincial member Sir Peter Ipatas.

This institution which was initiated by the provincial government had its first enrolment of 863 students this year in the faculties of Education and Medical.

“Next year, we will have the first enrolment for faculty of ICT and Business,” Sir Peter said.
He said this will see the enrolment of students go up.

According to Sir Peter, 24 classrooms and 48 three-bedroom staff houses including dormitories and a mass have been completed or nearing completion.

Next year, the faculty of ICT and Business will have it’s first enrolment in March when the academic year starts.

The Enga Provincial Government is aiming to build the capacity of IUE to enrol 3000 students every year.

“Our focus is capacity building and then we can talk about other developments of the university,” he said.

Sir Peter clarified the misconception saying IUE is a national institution established in the province and is funded by the national government like the University of Technology and University of PNG.

Students wanting to study in IUE will have to apply through the Department of Higher Education Research Science and Technology selection process.

The first intakes for the faculty of ICT and Business next year will be selected through the national online selection system managed by Department of Higher Education Research Science and Technology.
