IUE Professor Secures UK Design Registration and Scopus-Indexed Publication

The Innovative University of Enga (IUE) congratulates Prof. (Dr.) Kapil Dave on two recent research achievements that extend the University’s contribution to medical science: the registration of a UK design for an AI-based medical device, and the publication of a first-authored paper in a peer-reviewed,
Scopus-indexed journal.
UK Registered Design: AI-Based Targeted Drug Delivery Device
The UK Intellectual Property Office has issued a Certificate of Registration for Prof. Dave’s design of an AI-Based Targeted Drug Delivery Device for Diabetes Mellitus. The device applies artificial intelligence to the targeted delivery of medication, an approach with the potential to improve treatment precision for
people living with diabetes.
Design number: 6528712
Classification: International Design Classification, Version 15-2025
Registered designer: Prof. (Dr.) Kapil Dave, Innovative University of Enga
Scopus-Indexed Publication
Prof. Dave is first author of “Oxidative Stress and Antioxidant Dynamics in Cancer, Diabetes Mellitus, Anemia, and Cardiovascular Diseases,” published in the Journal of Molecular Science (ISSN 1000-9035), a peer-reviewed, Scopus-indexed journal. The paper examines the role of oxidative stress and antioxidant mechanisms across four disease groups that carry a heavy burden in Papua New Guinea and the Pacific.

IUE President Dr. Brian Davis congratulated Prof. Dave on behalf of the University.
“A registered design and a Scopus-indexed publication in the same season is a strong signal of the
research culture we are building at IUE. Prof. Dave’s work on diabetes and cardiovascular disease
speaks directly to the health challenges facing Enga and the nation, and it shows our students what
scholarship at an international standard looks like.”
IUE supports faculty research across its three campuses as part of its commitment to teaching, research and service for Enga Province and Papua New Guinea.
