The Adoption of New Student Information System from Academia

The Innovative University of Enga (IUE) has begun a multi-month adoption of a new Student Information
System (SIS) from Academia, developed by Serosoft. The SIS will become the single place where the
University keeps and manages its student records, from a student’s first application through to
graduation.

What the System Does

The SIS brings the main parts of student administration into one system. Because Irelya, Sopas and Akom
will all work in it, the College of Education, the College of Health Sciences and the College of Business and
Technology will share one set of records instead of separate files and spreadsheets.

Admissions: Applications and admission decisions

Enrollment: Enrollment and course registration each semester

Academics: Class timetables, attendance, grades and transcripts

Finance:
Student fees, billing and account balances

Online portals: Students check schedules, grades and balances; faculty post attendance and
marks directly

Why It Matters

Much of IUE’s student administration still depends on paper and on records spread across offices and
campuses. That slows things down and leads to mistakes. With the SIS, each student’s record will be
accurate and current, and the staff who need it can reach it without chasing paperwork between
campuses. Registration and fee payment will be faster, transcripts will be easier to produce, and the
University will be able to pull reliable figures on enrollment, progression and graduation when the
Government, the University Council or accrediting bodies ask for them.

For students, it means less time standing in lines and more certainty about where they stand. For the
University, it provides the basic records system that a modern, accredited institution must have.

The system will be introduced in phases over the coming months. IUE will share updates with students
and staff as each part goes live.
